Heavy traffic, Omicron spread lead to RJ flight delays — CEO

By JT - Jul 20,2022 - Last updated at Jul 20,2022

AMMAN — Royal Jordanian (RJ) CEO Samer Majali on Wednesday stressed that modifications to RJ flights are “beyond the company’s will”, noting that the reasons for flight delays are mainly due to “heavy traffic”, a shortage of personnel at international airports and land handling companies and the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Majali expressed apology for any RJ flight delays, voicing the company’s keenness to offer the best services to its passengers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The RJ CEO said that the company notifies passengers early when their flights are delayed or cancelled, yet some passengers make reservations through travel agents that do not always provide contacts to notify passengers of such changes.

He added that 10 per cent of RJ flight attendants had tested positive during the recent outbreak of the Omicron variant and they are now quarantined, stressing that RJ is “facing problems with the service staff, rather than pilots”.
