AMMAN — Jordan is aware of the importance of peace as a key social determinant of public health, Health Minister Feras Al Hawari said on Tuesday, stressing that the Kingdom’s political stability made the country a treatment destination.

Speaking during the Geneva-held World Health Assembly’s 75th session, Hawari said that Jordan is one of the countries that has made the most commitments to the “Health for Peace” initiative by welcoming successive arrivals of refugees and providing them with adequate health care.

Refugees and citizens in Jordan receive the same healthcare services, he noted, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The World Health Assembly, held under the theme “Health for Peace, Peace for Health”, is the World Health Organisation’s highest decision-making body, with delegates from 194 member countries in attendance.
