AMMAN — Grocery stores and shops selling food and produce have witnessed “unprecedented” sales after the government on Wednesday announced a three-day comprehensive curfew from Friday to Sunday, President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce Khalil Haj Tawfiq said on Thursday.

Haj Tawfiq, also president of the Foodstuff Traders Association, told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that citizens prefer malls and hypermarkets for shopping for meat, poultry and vegetables in light of the hot weather and high temperatures.

Turnout is expected to continue during the night, especially as the government extended movement hours on Wednesday and Thursday to 11pm, he said.
