AMMAN — A French tourist died on Friday after falling in Petra, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Jordan Tourist Guides Association President Hassan Ababneh said that the incident took place in the Petra Archaeological Park, on a licensed hiking trail, and that the tourist's cane slipped while she was leaning on it and broke.
She then fell down and died, according to a statement by the association. Ababneh stressed that the guide that accompanied the group was an expert in hiking, noting that tourist activities may involve incidents.
In such an urgent situation, the association called on media not to publish false information and rumours as that would harm Jordan's tourism sector, he added.
