Foreign Minister, UNRWA chief discuss boosting humanitarian aid in Gaza

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met on Thursday with Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini.

During the discussion, Safadi stressed the urgent need to reinforce the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the swift and effective delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip. 

He also highlighted the pivotal role of UNRWA in facilitating this critical assistance, according to a Foreign Ministry statement. 

The minister also stressed the importance of maintaining UNRWA's operations, underscoring that the Agency's services to Palestinian refugees are vital and irreplaceable by any other organization. 

He also reiterated that UNRWA must continue its essential mission as mandated by the United Nations.
