AMMAN — The Ministry of Youth, in cooperation with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), on Thursday launched the first virtual youth centre of its kind in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Minister of Youth Muhammad Nabulsi, in the presence of the USAID Mission Director Sherry Carlin, said that the virtual centre is characterised by speed and high ability to communicate and interact with young people at any time and any place.
These features contribute to eliminating distances, breaking barriers, and overcoming many challenges faced by young people, especially in remote areas that lack youth centres and sports clubs, he said.
Nabulsi stressed the importance of investing in technological progress, which has become the main driving force to educate young people.
He said that the establishment of this virtual centre will pave the way for high-quality educational and training programmes.
Carlin said that the agency, in continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Youth, is working to help young people access job opportunities, build capacities, community participation and networks that will lead to promising educational and economic prospects necessary to achieve their dreams.
The virtual youth centre, Shabab.jo, is “a pioneering electronic platform that provides a safe space for young people to learn, participate, network and unleash their potential energies”, according to Petra.
