EU allocates 20m euros to enhance social protection

AMMAN — Ibrahim Laafia, head of cooperation at the EU delegation to Jordan, on Tuesday announced allocating 20 million euros to enhance social protection in the Kingdom during the 2018-2020 period, the Jordan news agency, Petra, reported.
The announcement came during a workshop on developing and updating the quality and performance of the social protection sector, organised by the Social Development Ministry and funded by the EU.
During the workshop, Social Development Minister Wajih Azaizeh stressed the importance of the project to develop the sector in light of the Jordan Vision 2025 and the ministry’s strategy 2017-2021.
Azaizeh noted that the government has supported the project with JD20 million over the past few years, which included support to underprivileged families and people with disabilities.
