Daoud, during TV interview, highlights gov’t-instituted mechanisms for adapting to coming phase

AMMAN — The Kingdom has proven its capability to work and achieve even amid the hardest times, Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Sami Daoud said on Friday.

During his interview with Al Mamlaka TV, the minister highlighted that the measures taken to protect citizens’ health and safety “have not affected the workflow” of the public sector’s vital institutions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday.

Pointing out that the post-COVID-19 era will be “different”, Daoud highlighted the government- issued guide, prepared in cooperation with the EU Delegation to Jordan within its SIGMA (Support for Improvement in Governance and Management) programme, for resuming work in the public sector, which includes measures designed to facilitate adapting to the new circumstances while protecting public health and sustaining the provision of services, either on-site or remotely.

Regarding exceptions for employees returning to work, the minister said that, according to the guide, priority for working on-site goes to employees in leadership and supervisory posts, as well as employees who cannot work remotely, he said, pointing out that all employees not included in the first and second batches are required to work remotely.

He reiterated that employees who do not come to the workplace are entitled to their full salaries, with the exception of a transportation allowance, as the government, during the past period, did not deduct employees’ overtime allowances. Flexible working hours will be activated, he added.
