AMMAN — Remote workers are ineligible for unemployment benefits but are eligible to receive their full wages for April and May, the Social Security Corporation (SSC) announced on Sunday.
Institutions are obliged to pay the full wages of their full-time workers, whether they perform remote or on-site work, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In a statement, the corporation said that people who are registered at the SSC are eligible for unemployment benefits only during a month in which the worker was not fully employed, either at the employee’s normal workplace or remotely.
Institutions that suspend their employees’ social security to obtain unemployment benefits while the employees are working remotely during April and May will bear all legal consequences, Petra reported.
