Consumer Price Index increased 4.22% during January-November period — DoS

AMMAN — The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, went up by 4.22 per cent during the January-November period, reaching 106.68 points compared with 102.36 points in the same period of 2021. 

According to a monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics (DoS) on Tuesday, the main contributors to the CPI increase were fuel and electricity at 24.66  per cent, transport at 5.73  per cent, rent at 2.38  per cent, culture and entertainment at 9.50 per cent, and vegetables and legumes at 6.57 per cent. 

In November, the report showed an increase in inflation of 4.99 per cent to 108.19 points, compared with 103.06 points during the same month of 2021. 

Figures showed that fuel and electricity were the main drivers of the monthly increase at 35.32 per cent, followed by rent at 4.48 per cent, transport at 4.63 per cent, dairy products and eggs at  7.67 per cent and culture and entertainment at 10.51 per cent.
