Consumer Price Index increased 4.01% in January, February 2023

AMMAN — The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, went up 4.01 per cent in the first two months of 2023 to 107.97 points compared with 103.81 in the same period of 2022, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Monday. 

In its monthly bulletin, the DoS noted that the fuel and lighting sub-group was responsible for 31.82 per cent of the index increase, while furniture, carpets and mattresses contributed 10.41 per cent to the increase, culture and entertainment with 10.39 per cent, restaurants and hotels with 9.48 per cent, and oils and ghee with 9.46 per cent. 

In February, inflation increased by 4.25 points to 108.32, compared with 103.90 points recorded in the same month of 2022, DoS figures showed as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
