CICA meet rallies behind Hashemite Custodianship

AMMAN — Deputising for his Majesty King Abdullah, Jordan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Yousuf Abdul Ghani on Saturday participated in the fifth iteration of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The closing statement of the conference highlighted CICA members’ support of Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s holy sites.

The statement also expressed a “firm stance” against all unilateral decisions, which seek to change the Holy City’s status quo. According to the statement, attendees affirmed their commitment to the Palestinian people’s right to an independent state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Participants in the conference also expressed their concern about UNRWA’s financial standing and stressed the significance of its role in supporting Palestinian refugees.
