CDFJ urges KACE to help monitor right to access information

AMMAN — Centre for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ) President Nidal Mansour has expressed hope that the King Abdullah II Centre for Excellence (KACE) would play a role in monitoring how well public departments implement the right of access to information, the centre said on Wednesday.

During a workshop organised by the CDFJ with the participation of KACE employees, Mansour said access to information is a basic right that should be part of the e-government project, noting that early announcements of information would improve government performance and decrease the amount of time wasted, according to a CDFJ statement.

Osama Abu Saleem, acting director of KACE, praised the partnership with CDFJ within the Iref (know) initiative, highlighting that the initiative’s aims are in line with KACE’s message to develop public performance.
