Cabinet approves funding for Al Rai, The Jordan Times website, app

AMMAN — During a session chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, the Cabinet on Sunday approved the funding for the Al Rai and The Jordan Times website and mobile application as a line item worth JD70, 000 in the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship’s 2023 budget.
The Cabinet also approved a system to organise the work of the customs police, also setting guidelines for their uniforms, ranks and distinctive insignia, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Cabinet also approved the financial and economic regulations in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, including an amendment related to the income tax system, an amendment to organise the accounts and financial statements system and an amendment related to the zone’s registration system.
A draft social development law for the year 2023 was also approved, which will be sent to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to complete the procedures for its issuance.
The Cabinet also approved the purchase of wheat and barley crops from farmers for the 2022-2023 agricultural season at JD500 per tonne for seed wheat, JD420 for port wheat, JD420 per tonne of seed barley and JD370 per tonne for port barley.
Cabinet members also approved the formation of a central committee for the purchase of local grains, and approved the Kingdom’s joining of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security.
