AMMAN — British Ambassador to Jordan Peter Millett on Thursday visited Salt, 35kn northwest of the capital, to survey the progress of British embassy-funded projects in two schools and meet with local community leaders.
At the two schools, Millett was briefed on the “I3zif fi Madrasati” initiative, which “empowers students and teaches them a new peaceful and creative means of self-expression by offering schools a range of instruments, teaching videos and technical courses” to develop students’ musical talents, a British embassy statement said.
Millett also met with Balqa MP Mahmoud Kharabsheh and a group of local community leaders.
The diplomat reiterated the embassy’s commitment to UK-supported projects in Jordan, which include a variety of initiatives at the municipal level, benefiting both Jordanians and Syrian refugees, according to the statement.
Kharabsheh highlighted the importance of Parliament’s current ordinary session, the Palestinian issue and the impact of the regional situation on the Salt community.
