AMMAN — The Ayla Oasis Development Company and the Jordan Society for the Conservation of Turtles and Tortoises signed a memorandum of understanding aiming to promote the protection and conservation of Ayla’s marine life and sea turtles.

This agreement, signed by Ayla’s Managing Director Sahl Dudin and the Chairman of JSCTT Abeer Bilbeisi, demonstrates Ayla’s commitment to protecting the environment and adopting the best environmental practices to contribute to sustainable tourism, according to an Ayla statement.

Dudin emphasised the importance of partnering with local organisations that specialise in protecting nature. This partnership with JSCTT, an expert organisation in protecting natural resources, will help Ayla achieve the best results and contribute towards the aims of becoming a sustainable green project, Dudin said. The Managing Director also expressed his hope to achieve a major milestone through this partnership and advance Ayla’s plans to promote eco-tourism.

Bilbeisi stated: “We are proud of this partnership with Ayla, through which we will implement the best global standards adopted in the protection of natural resources, and harness our energies to be a model in the conservation of sea turtles in Aqaba and the region.”

This partnership will contribute to the preservation of Ayla’s marine turtle species, which are classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List, and will promote the recovery of sea turtles on the Aqaba coast of the Red Sea, the statement said.
