AMMAN — Awqaf Minister Hayel Dawood on Tuesday condemned the Israeli raid on Al Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied Jerusalem to protect and evacuate a foreign tourist who tried to raise the Israeli flag on top of the Dome of the Rock Mosque.
Mosque guards and worshippers were able to take the flag from the tourist and remove him from the mosque, Dawood said, noting that the Israeli forces arrested six of the guards.
Two of the arrested guards were beaten severely and taken to hospital, whereas the Foreign Ministry is working to release the other four, according to Dawood.
The Lower House Palestine Committee also condemned the Israeli raid, urging the authorities to secure the release of the guards.
