AMMAN — Security personnel on Saturday found families, who had rented two school busses, picnicking in the Maeen Valley, which is prone to flashfloods, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The governor of Madaba said that the Civil Defence Department’s (CDD) personnel evacuated the families and no casualties were reported. He called on citizens to abide by the CDD’s warnings to stay away from valleys and flood prone areas.
Public Security Department Spokesman Col. Amir Sartawi said he wondered why some citizens had not responded to official instructions and warnings to avoid low-lying areas.
