AMMAN — Participants at a media conference held in Amman last week called for intensifying journalists training on occupational safety during and after conflict and how to deal with information.

The recommendations were made during a two-day conference that was held by the Arab Women Media Centre (AWMC)  19th under the slogan “Knights of Truth”.

The participants, who came from various Arab states during the AWMC’s 19th conference, called for developing and empowering media skills on how to invest in modern technology using artificial intelligence while ensuring the development of media content.

They also called for conducting awareness-raising campaigns regarding the Palestinian cause and documenting the Palestinian narrative during the war, specifically about female journalists.

In addition, they called for the establishment of a joint media platform that includes the coordinators of the AWMC in all Arab countries to exchange experiences and information related to empowerment, studies, documentation, and the conditions of women media professionals in their regions.

They also called for preparing a comprehensive report that documents the violations committed against female journalists to be published on World Press Freedom Day.

The two-day conference discussed several working papers including topics related to international conventions and freedom of journalists in conflict zones and contemporary challenges in media campaigns.

The papers also tackled the impact of the Arabic language and its importance in the awareness of journalists in reporting events, the use of media in promoting rumours and fabricated reports, the role of digital media in finding solutions for the Arab region in the future and the role of media in issues of political reform in the Arab world.
