AMMAN — The political will in Jordan, represented by His Majesty King Abdullah, is keen on strengthening human rights along with the reform and modernisation system, Director of the Prime Ministry’s Human Rights Department Khalil Abdallat said on Thursday.

Abdallat’s remarks came during a meeting, organised by Al Hayat Centre (RASED), with civil society institutions in coordination with the Chechen Charitable Society (CCS).

The meeting's goal was to boost the role of civil society institutions and contribute to developing the human rights system at the national and international levels, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Abdallat added that the Royal directives resulted in endorsing the political, economic, administrative and public sector reforms systems. His Majesty also directed the National Centre for Human Rights to assess the legislative impact of the Cybercrime Law on enhancing the Kingdom's human rights system, he added.

Amal Shabsough, head of the CCS, commended the role of the department in strengthening partnerships among national institutions to enhance the human rights system.
