AMMAN — The US embassy in Amman on Thursday urged US citizens to be vigilant as protests may take place in Amman and in other cities across Jordan on Friday. The embassy cited online postings calling for a rally to begin following Friday prayer at Al Husseini Mosque in downtown Amman.
Demonstrations are also expected in other parts of Jordan, the embassy said in an alert issued on its website. The embassy urged US citizens to avoid demonstrations. "We remind US citizens that protests intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. As always, please be aware of your surroundings and monitor local media," the embassy notice said.
