AMMAN — Prince Hamzah Hospital on Wednesday announced the completion of a project to instal sustainable lighting solutions under the UAE humanitarian initiative "20 by 2020", implemented by the Zayed Sustainability Prize.
Director of the hospital Abdul Razzaq Khashman noted that the project included installing solar-powered LED lights at the hospital’s entrances and roads outside the hospital, which “will bring the energy bill to zero”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Drawing attention to the role of the project in supporting the hospital's work, which includes treating COVID-19 patients, Health Minister Saad Jaber expressed appreciation for the Zayed Sustainability Prize and its partners in the initiative for providing the hospital with environmentally friendly solutions.
Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and Director General of the Zayed Sustainability Prize, in a statement, expressed appreciation for the efforts of the medical cadre at Prince Hamzah Hospital towards combatting the novel coronavirus.
The initiative, according to Jaber, focuses on spreading sustainable solutions and technologies that can affect a “tangible change” in the targetted communities, as well as contribute in addressing some of the most pressing global challenges in the fields of health, food, energy and water.
The "20 by 2020" initiative, according to the statement, is being implemented in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mubadala Petroleum, Masdar, Year of Tolerance and Majid Al Futtaim, which recently joined to support the initiative's efforts in Jordan.
