AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Sunday called on all relevant agencies to take the necessary measures to prepare for expected inclement weather conditions in the upcoming days.

During a Cabinet session, the prime minister emphasised the importance of maintaining coordination and ensuring the operational readiness of response teams in order to respond to the expected weather conditions.

The premier also directed the relevant agencies, including the ministries of local administration, public works and housing, and the Interior Ministry, as well as the Greater Amman Municipality, to prioritise the safety of citizens and minimise any potential damage to public or private property, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Khasawneh also tasked the Ministry of Water with monitoring the condition of dams to ensure that they are able to receive the expected quantity of water.

The prime minister’s directives also compelled the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to coordinate with electricity companies to tackle any potential power disruptions and monitor gas distribution companies to guarantee the availability of fuel for heating.

The Council of Ministers, during the session, also approved the validating reasons of the 2023 draft law related to a solidarity fund for agricultural risk mitigation, referring it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau for further proceedings.

The bill aims to address the negative impacts and losses incurred by farmers due to the Kingdom’s exposure to climate change.

The Cabinet also approved the validating reasons for the draft administrative regulation system for the Cities and Villages Development Bank for 2023.
