Media watchdog ‘concerned about security restrictions against journalists’

AMMAN — The Centre for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ) on Sunday expressed its concern over security agencies’ measures to “limit journalists’ freedom while covering sit-ins”.
Forcing journalists to sign pledges not to cover popular protests is “a step backwards and an indicator that the government does not respect its international commitments on the freedom of opinion, expression and the media”, the CDFJ said in a statement.
The centre noted that security personnel on Friday prevented photojournalists from covering a protest against the gas deal with Israel.
