AMMAN — The GDP at consistent market rates experienced a 2.3 per cent growth in the last quarter of 2023 compared with the same period in 2022.

According to the latest quarterly report from the Department of Statistics (DoS) released on Thursday, the GDP growth for 2023 stood at 2.6 per cent at constant prices, marking an increase from the previous year’s figures, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Preliminary assessments also indicated that a majority of economic sectors exhibited growth in the final quarter of 2023, compared with the corresponding period in 2022. The extractive industries sector led the way, registering a substantial growth rate of 9.8 per cent, contributing 0.22 percentage points to the overall growth rate.

The agriculture, hunting, forestry, and fishing sector also experienced a growth rate of 3.7 per cent, contributing 0.23 percentage points. The social and personal services sector recorded a growth rate of 3.6 per cent, contributing 0.30 percentage points. Meanwhile, the construction sector saw a growth of 3.5 per cent, contributing 0.11 percentage points to the overall growth rate.
