AMMAN — The Kingdom's trade balance deficit during the first two months of 2022 increased by 31.2 per cent, reaching JD1.543 billion, compared with the same period in 2021 that stood at JD1.176 billion, according to the Department of Statistics' (DoS) figures.
According to a report on foreign trade in Jordan issued by the DoS on Wednesday, the volume of total exports in the January-February period of 2022 increased by 35 per cent, to reach JD1.216 billion, compared with the same period of 2021, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
National exports in the first two months of 2022 increased by 37.2 per cent to reach JD1.1 billion, compared with the same period of last year, Petra reported.
The report also revealed that re-exports stood at JD116.7 million in the first two months of 2022, marking a 17.2 per cent increase, compared with the same period of 2021.
Jordan's imports in the first two months of 2022 rose by 32.9 per cent, to reach JD2.76 billion, compared with JD2.077 billion in the same period of last year, the DoS figures showed.
The percentage of total export coverage for imports in the first two months of 2022 stood at 44.1 per cent compared with 43.4 per cent in the same period of 2021, marking an increase of 0.7 per cent.
On a monthly level, the Kingdom's national exports in February alone increased by 45.3 per cent to JD576.7 million compared with JD397 million during the same month of 2021, the DoS added.
