King meets Israeli defence minister

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met in Amman with Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz.

During the meeting, King Abdullah reiterated the need to maintain calm in the Palestinian Territories, and to take the necessary measures to create the horizon needed to achieve just and comprehensive peace, on the basis of the two-state solution, according to a Royal Court statement.

The meeting also covered a number of issues of mutual concern, as well as means of enhancing security and stability in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan attended the meeting.
