AMMAN — The trade volume between Jordan and Qatar in 2023 reached approximately 860 million Qatari riyals ($236.2 million), according to data reported on the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority website on Monday.

The data revealed a 60 million riyals ($16.4 million) increase, marking a 7 per cent annual growth compared with 800 million Riyals ($219.7 million) in 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Jordan's exports to Qatar include fresh and processed food products, vegetables and fruits, meat, dates, cheese, dairy products, poultry, grains, sweets, rice, juice, nuts, pickles, herbs, honey, eggs and coffee.

As for Qatar's exports to the Jordanian market, they included various chemical materials such as vehicle lubricants, sulfonic acid, aluminium moulds, paraffin, polyethylene, iron rods, chemical and organic fertilisers, plastic bags and medical solutions.

The trade balance between the two countries has witnessed rapid growth in recent years, fuelled by Qatar's increasing imports of Jordanian food and consumer products, especially since 2020, according to Petra.

The official statistics from the Qatari Planning and Statistics Authority indicate that the trade balance exceeded 11.5 billion Qatari riyals ($3.17 billion) over the past decade.
