AMMAN — Jordan has written off the US-guaranteed eurobonds due on October 30 of 2020, at a total value of $1.25 billion, the Ministry of Finance announced on Sunday.
The ministry, in a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, said that the amount was transferred from the Treasury’s account on October 27, 2020, pointing out that the total public debt will decrease by $1.250 billion by the end of October of this year.
The ministry forecasts the percentage of the central government’s debt, after excluding the debts taken from the Social Security Investment Fund to decline to 82.4 per cent of GDP estimated by the end of October 2020, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
