Jerusalem Patriarch expresses appreciation of Royal gesture

AMMAN — Patriarch Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City and all Jordan and Palestine, on Wednesday expressed appreciation of the Royal gesture, bestowing the Order of the State Centennial on the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem.

In a statement, Patriarch Theophilos III said that His Majesty King Abdullah’s honouring of Patriarch Finsantos I, in line with the Jordanian Law of Churches established in 1958, conveys messages of Jordanian unity. He also expressed support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites, commending His Majesty’s support to the Palestinian cause.
