Dam storage level reaches 30% after recent rainfall — Water Ministry

AMMAN — The recent weather conditions have increased the volume of rainfall from the beginning of the season to some 5.890 billion cubic metres (bcm), accounting to 72 per cent of the long-term annual average of 8.1bcm, the Water Ministry said on Saturday.

The recent rainfall has provided dams with some 1.250 million cubic metres (mcm) of water, increasing dams' storage to 85mcm, which accounts for 30 per cent of dams' current total storage of 280mcm, according to a ministry statement.

Ajloun recorded the highest downpour over the past 24 hours with 17.4mm. Amman recorded 4.4mm, Balqa 6.7mm, Madaba 2.5mm, Zarqa 2.3mm, Jerash 7.2mm, Mafraq 1.2mm, Irbid 5.8mm, Karak 0.1mm, Tafileh 0.1mm, while Maan and Aqaba did not record any rainfall over the past 24 hours.
