AMMAN — Al Bashir Hospital Director Ammar Shurafa said that what had been reported by some media outlets about a patient, who started a fire at the hospital, was “exaggeration”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In a statement carried by Petra, Shurafa said that the patient entered the hospital’s emergency department for diabetes treatment that required him to stay for two days.
However, after these two days, he refused to leave the hospital, claiming that he had nobody to look after him.
The hospital, which contacted his family but received no reply, called on the concerned agencies to intervene, as the patient had no medical need to stay at the facility. Shurafa said that the patient attempted to draw attention to his case by setting a small fire in his room, which caused no damage.
