AMMAN — Seventy-eight trucks carrying humanitarian aid have entered Gaza over the past five days, providing essential supplies, including ready-to-eat meals, bottled water, food parcels, mattresses and hygiene items.

This operation was organised by the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), and supported by various organisations including the Alemdad Organization, UNICEF, the Apparel Traders Association, the French government, Helping Hand for Relief and Development, Al-Ghraa Charity Association, Life Organisation and Qatar Charity.

Hussein Shibli, JHCO Secretary General, said on Tuesday that the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, coupled with restrictions on aid delivery, is exacerbating the suffering.

He stressed the urgent need for increased efforts and resources to ensure that aid reaches those in need in the war-torn Strip.

Jordan is making every effort to open more crossings and increase the volume of humanitarian aid to alleviate the impact of the war on Gazans, Shibli added.

To date, a total of 2,641 trucks and 53 aircraft carrying aid have entered Gaza through Al-Arish, according to JHCO.
