AMMAN — The Ministry of Social Development said on Monday that it has distributed 60,000 prepaid shopping cards to underprivileged families and National Aid Fund beneficiaries across the Kingdom.

This annual initiative is implemented as part of the Royal humanitarian initiatives, coinciding with His Majesty King Abdullah's birthday and the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

Each card, valued at JD100, was distributed through 108 ministry-affiliated centres to help families meet their essential needs during the holy month, the Jordan News Agency, Perra, reported.

The ministry stressed that beneficiaries were selected based on clear criteria, ensuring fairness and transparency through a computerised system and ministry database.

The ministry has also launched a Royal Initiative for care home residents, benefiting 1,873 individuals. The initiative includes religious, recreational and social activities, Ramadan iftars, Eid clothing and sweets and gift distributions.

It also targets orphans, individuals without family support, persons with disabilities, those in protective care, and juveniles.
