AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry condemned on Saturday Israel's "systematic targeting and brutal assaults" on healthcare facilities in Gaza, the latest being the storming of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern part of the Strip.

The ministry described the action as a "blatant" violation of international law, specifically the 1949 Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, holding Israel accountable for the safety of civilians and medical personnel at the hospital, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The ministry spokesperson said that the attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital, along with its medical staff and facilities, represents a dangerous escalation in the destruction of vital infrastructure crucial for the survival of residents in northern Gaza.

The official also stressed that such attacks constitute war crimes under international law, reflecting Israel's ongoing policy of collective punishment, which exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in the strip, with the intent of forcing residents to flee their homes.

The spokesperson also urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to fulfil its legal and ethical responsibilities by compelling Israel to cease its ongoing aggression in Gaza, the targeting of civilians, and the resulting humanitarian catastrophe.

The official also called for urgent measures to protect Palestinians and to stop Israel's violations of international law and the decisions of the International Court of Justice.
