AMMAN — Participants at the Second Forum on the Future of Media and Communication on Monday addressed the rapidly changing media landscape with a focus on ethical challenges, the role of social media in conflict zones, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the industry.

The forum served as a platform for exploring crucial topics, such as the ethical responsibilities accompanying media's transformation, the role of content creators in defending human rights, and the powerful influence of social media during ongoing conflicts in regions like Gaza, Sudan, and Lebanon.

Discussions also focused on how media narratives are consumed, created, and shaped in today’s digital age, with particular attention to the rising influence of AI on the media industry.

Ashraf Zeitoon, a media and entertainment adviser and investor, stressed the opportunities for countries to lead in AI development, noting: "Some countries have significant opportunities to lead in the field of AI, and Jordan has the potential to distinguish itself by establishing regulatory frameworks for AI."

He also pointed out that there is currently no Arabic news channel specifically tailored for audiences aged 25 or younger.

Political analyst and former MP Dima Tahboub highlighted the transformative role of social media in presenting factual narratives.

"Social media and digital platforms have contributed to presenting numerous facts," she said, stressing a positive shift in how media is now addressing the Palestinian narrative, particularly following the events of October 7.
