AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warned on Sunday of the dangerous escalation in southern Lebanon and the consequences of igniting a new war after a missile struck the occupied Syrian town of Majdal Shams, located in the Golan Heights, resulting in numerous casualties
The ministry warned that the situation in southern Lebanon could potentially escalate into a regional war.
Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah emphasised the importance of supporting Lebanon's security, stability, and the well-being of its people and institutions.
He also urged adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701 to prevent further escalation.
Qudah also warned that the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip would contribute to increasing tensions and could lead to broader regional conflict.
Qudah also called for an international effort to immediately stop the aggression and address the resulting humanitarian disaster, noting that such action are crucial to protecting the Palestinian people from further violence and destruction, and to maintaining regional and international peace and stability.
