AMMAN — The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on Monday launched the National Dialogue on the National Cyber Security Strategy 2024-2028, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation Nasser Shraideh.

During the event, which was organised at the Royal Jordanian (RJ) headquarters, the centre announced the vision for Jordan's cyberspace 2024-2028: "A safe, reliable, and resilient Jordanian cyberspace, relying on national capabilities, and enhancing the economy and societal welfare," the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The government will work on four national strategic priorities to achieve this vision: Security and reliability, cyber resilience, cyber transformation, and cooperation and partnerships.

NCSC President Bassam Maharmeh said that this new Strategy enables national digital transformation plans and supports the second driver of the eight economic growth drivers in the Economic Modernisation Vision, related to providing future services.

Maharmeh added that achieving these goals requires a secure and reliable digital environment that attracts investments and enhances the Kingdom's position as a haven of security in a turbulent region, noting that the strategy targets individuals, government institutions, critical infrastructure and the business sector.

Shraideh also announced the establishment of a digital transformation unit at the Prime Ministry, which will provide the framework and necessary support for digital transformation processes, including cyber security and data protection, and address potential risks and threats during and after digital transformation, requiring greater partnership between the public and private sectors.

RJ Vice Chairman/CEO Samer Majali said that the aviation sector is one of the most important sectors requiring the highest levels of cyber security.

Majali added that thanks to technological advancements, aviation operations rely heavily on digital systems and connected networks, highlighting the importance of enhancing cyber security to ensure the sustainability and safety of passengers, protect their data, and ensure continuity of operations.

Jordan Strategy Forum CEO Nisreen Barakat expressed her pride in cooperating with the NCSC to launch this important strategy, stressing the forum's commitment to providing ideas to enhance the cyber security system in Jordan.
