President Xi opens 10th session of China-Arab Cooperation Forum’s Ministerial meeting

AMMAN — Arab-Chinese relations are opening a new page in the twenty-first century, characterised by deep cooperation and follow-up on past successes, with a focus on building a common, prosperous future.

In this context, Xi Jinping, president of the People’s Republic of China, delivered an opening speech at the start of the tenth session of the Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, expressing China’s firm commitment to enhancing partnership with the Arab world and enhancing joint cooperation.

In his speech, President Xi stressed the importance of strengthening relations between China and Arab countries, noting that bilateral cooperation is a crucial factor for achieving progress and prosperity in the region and the world. President Xi also reviewed China’s efforts to enhance economic cooperation with Arab countries and stressed the importance of developing joint trade and investment relations through exchanging technology and promoting innovation.

President Xi highlighted the importance of building a shared future for China and Arab countries, by enhancing cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, clean energy and modern technology. He also indicated that China is ready to support Arab countries in achieving sustainable development goals, and to enhance cultural exchange between the two peoples.

During the first China-Arab Summit, the “Eight Joint Actions” were put forward as a framework for enhancing practical cooperation between China and Arab countries. These efforts have witnessed positive developments over the past years, as cooperation documents were signed between China and all Arab countries on the Belt and Road. These efforts have made significant progress in areas such as technological research and development and technology transfer and have witnessed an increase in economic, trade and energy cooperation.

The “Eight Joint Actions” focus on several important areas, including technological research and development, economic and trade cooperation, energy, food security, green innovation, health, and cultural and popular cooperation.

These efforts have achieved positive results, reflecting the commitment of China and the Arab countries to enhancing bilateral cooperation and building a common prosperous future.

In the coming years, the Chinese side pledges to enhance cooperation with the Arab side in several important areas. One of these areas is cooperation in technological research and development, where 10 joint laboratories will be built in areas such as life, health, artificial intelligence, green and low-carbon development, modern agriculture and space information.

In addition, investment and financial cooperation between China and Arab countries will be strengthened, and development projects that serve the interests of people in the region will be supported. Energy cooperation will also be enhanced, the implementation of renewable energy projects will be accelerated, and cooperation in the field of e-commerce and free trade will be enhanced.

In the field of cultural and people-to-people communication, new platforms for communication and cultural exchange will be established between China and Arab countries, with the aim of enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening cultural relations between the two peoples.

With these joint efforts and fruitful cooperation, we can achieve a more stable and prosperous common future for China and the Arab countries and promote peace and development in the region, and the world in general. At the conclusion of his speech, President Xi expresses his confidence that Chinese-Arab cooperation will contribute to building a more stable and prosperous world and contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence among civilisations.

He also emphasised that China is committed to strengthening the partnership with Arab countries, and enhancing cooperation in the fields of economy, culture and development, in order to build a common prosperous future for China and the Arab countries.
