AMMAN — The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship announced on Wednesday that so far, nearly 900,000 Jordanians have activated their digital identities through the government’s “Sanad” application.

The ministry urged continued activation of digital identity to benefit from all the services provided by the application free of charge, according to Al Mamlaka TV.

The ministry said that, through the application, users can access digital documents, personal information and benefit from various government services anytime, anywhere.

The government aims to reach 3.5 million activated digital identities and complete the automation of all government services by 2025, according to the Public Sector Modernisation Plan launched by the government.

A survey on the usage and spread of telecommunications and information technology in households in 2022 showed that 23.3 per cent of individuals aged 18 and above obtained e-government services.

The survey, conducted by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the Department of Statistics and reviewed by “Al Mamlakah”, revealed that three-quarters of individuals did not access e-government services, and the highest percentage obtained was for Sanad application at 67 per cent, followed by government institution websites at 57.5 per cent.

To activate the digital identity, the ministry explained that individuals can visit the nearest Sanad station spread across all Jordanian governorates or use several bank applications announced by the ministry as partners.

The Sanad application, launched by the government in February 2020 as part of the fifth executive package of the government’s economic program, aims to support electronic services and improve the business environment.
