Water Ministry 2024 estimated budget totals over JD32 million

AMMAN — Head of the Lower House’s Financial Committee Nimer Suleihat said on Tuesday that the Water Ministry's estimated budget for 2024 reached approximately JD32.3 million, showing an increase of JD11.2 million compared with the reassessment of 2023 budget. During a meeting attended by Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abul Saud, to review the ministry’s 2024budget, Suleihat highlighted that the current expenditure amounted to JD2.5 million, marking an increase of approximately JD255,000. This increase included natural growth in salaries, wages, and filling vacant positions, along with a capital expenditure of JD29.8 million, which saw a rise of JD11 million, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Abul Saud emphasised the need for advancements within irrigation methods in the agricultural sector, whose share is estimated at 55 per cent of the water supply. He also highlighted the ministry's commitment to expanding the sewage network, saying that the Kingdom is home for 36 stations, producing 150 million cubic metres of water suitable for agricultural use.
