AMMAN — Jordan's Food Security Council (FSC), during its second meeting held on Sunday at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), discussed items to regulate its financial affairs for 2023. The meeting, chaired by Minister of Agriculture and FSC Chairman Khaled Hneifat, went over the proposed draft assistance package by the World Food Programme to support the FSC, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The discussions also addressed proposals to launch planning and food security policy committees, implementing information systems and initiatives to address food loss and waste, as well as reinforcing food reserves in Jordan amid the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the current crises at the Red Sea. Several stakeholders attended the meeting and recommended banning the re-export of essential commodities, such as rice, sugar and oil due to the escalated freight costs in light of the crises at the Red Sea.
