AMMAN — Relatively cold and partially cloudy weather is forecast on Tuesday with light showers in the southeastern regions of the Kingdom, which might be accompanied by thunder, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Monday.

A slight temperature drop is anticipated on Wednesday, bringing cold and cloudy skies. The JMD also forecasts showers, possibly heavy at times, in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom and parts of the southwestern regions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Thursday is forecast to witness a slight increase in mercury levels, accompanied by relatively cold and partially cloudy skies in most regions of the Kingdom, JMD said, adding that the Jordan Valley and Aqaba are expected to witness fair weather.

In response to the unstable weather conditions, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) issued safety precaution, urging the public to exercise caution, Petra reported. The directorate also called on the public to avoid valleys and flood-prone areas, ensure readiness of vehicles and adhere to traffic laws, relocate from low-laying to higher places, and avoid the risk of crossing roads during increased water levels, whether on foot or in vehicles.

The PSD also urged motorists to exercise caution while driving on highways during rain, and called on households to safely use heaters with proper ventilation. The PSD urged the public to call 911 in case of emergencies.

The Water Authority of Jordan on Monday declared a medium emergency state duo to the weather conditions, assuring that all necessary procedures and preparations have been taken and that the emergency rooms have been activated, according to Petra.
