AMMAN — The weather on Wednesday is expected to be relatively cold and partly cloudy with a chance of scattered showers in certain parts of the Kingdom, mainly the eastern region, as it is affected by a depression centred over Cyprus, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) forecast said on Tuesday.
The weather on Wednesday night is forecast to gradually stabilise with the formation of some fog on mountainous areas, the JMD added as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Local Administration Ministry on Tuesday announced the medium alert level at emergency rooms of municipalities of Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Balqa, Madaba, Karak, Tafileh, Maan and Aqaba due to the expected weather conditions.
Nidal Adwan, secretary-general of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, urged municipalities to immediately address any emergencies that might accompany the forecast weather and inform emergency rooms with developments through the ministry's emergency system, Petra, reported.
Adwan also called on citizens residing in low-lying areas which may flood to relocate to safer areas.
He has urged the public to report any emergencies through 06-4631987, 06-4622372, and 06-4641393, or through https://tawasol.mola.gov.jo.
Also on Tuesday, the Public Works and Housing Ministry called on the public to exercise caution in conjunction with the expected weather conditions.
Public Works and Housing Minister Maher Abul Samen also visited the main operation room and checked on preparations to deal with the rainy season, Petra added.
