Palestinian developments, Arab Islamic Summit's concluding statement discussed

AMMAN — Senate's Palestine committee on Sunday met with Awqaf Minister Mohammad Khalaileh and Minister of Political and Parliamentary affairs Haditha Khraisha to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian cause and the closing statement of the Arab Islamic Summit.
Senator Nayef Al Qadi, head of the Senate's Palestine committee noted that Palestine holds significance for all Jordanians, The Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He said that His Majesty King Abdullah is leading Jordan's diplomacy to raise awareness among the international community on the rights of the Palestinian people, impose an immediate ceasefire and deliver humanitarian assistance.
For his part, Khalaileh said that the arbitrary measures taken against the Al Aqsa Mosque staff which includes hindering their work, physical abuse and harassing worshippers and attempting to impose temporal and spatial division which is unacceptable by the Hashemite custodianship.
Khreisha for his part reiterated that the Jordanian support of the Palestinian rights and cause is continuous to deliver aid to besieged Palestinians.
The committee, in a statement, said that it is crucial to work for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, West bank and Jerusalem, and open humanitarian corridors to deliver food, medicine and water to the besieged enclave.
The statement stressed the need to focus on finding a political solution that enables the Palestinians to establish an independent state on the lines of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The committee expressed sorrow and shock for the civilian casualties, most of whom are children, women and elderly. The committee commended steadfastness of the people of Palestine in defending their existence and national identity.
The committee considered that the main duty at present is to immediately halt the war in order to stop the crimes and massacres perpetrated against Palestinians. Discussing running post-war Gaza is unacceptable, whether through Arab or non-Arab channels, the statement read. Jordan approaches the Palestinian cause as a comprehensive and indivisible issue.
