Jewellery, chemicals topped Jordan's exports during the first 8 months of 2023

AMMAN — Jewellery and chemicals topped Jordan's exports during the first eight months of the year. According to foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics on Wednesday, Jewellery exports rose by 76.7 per cent, chemical products by 18.9 per cent and other materials by 15.6 per cent. The value of national exports of jewellery and gems reached approximately JD 560 million during the January- August period of 2023, compared with JD 317 million in the corresponding period of 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The data showed that value of exports of chemical products reached approximately JD 340 million, compared with JD 286 million for the same period last year. National exports of other materials amounted to JD 2.224 billion by the end of August this year, against JD 1.924 billion in the same period last year.During the January- August period, national exports of clothing dropped by 11.1 per cent, while fertilisers were down by 15.8per cent, potash by 33.4 per cent and phosphates by 20.9 per cent.
