AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah is exerting tremendous efforts to halt the war on Gaza and protect civilians, Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi said on Tuesday.
Safadi made the remarks during phone calls with Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives Hanafy El Gebali and Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council Saqr Ghobash, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Safadi said that His Majesty has embarked on a European tour to mobilise international support for halting the war, rejecting any attempt to relocate Palestinians or cause their displacement and open political grounds to realise a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
He stressed the importance of mobilising a unified Arab parliament position supporting Gazans and stopping the Israeli occupation's war, which involved heinous war crimes.
Safadi, Gebali and Ghobash highlighted the importance of unifying Arab efforts and pressing the international community to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
They underscored the need to advance efforts to reach a comprehensive two-state solution that would ensure the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
