Risheh field sold 5.382 billion cubic feet of gas for electricity generation last year

AMMAN — The Risheh field sold 5.382 billion cubic feet of gas for electricity generation last year, with a daily rate of 14.7 million cubic feet, generating 1.8 per cent of the total electric power produced.
The volume of natural gas consumed at the electric power stations stood at 344 million cubic feet and contributed to 68 per cent of the electric energy produced, according to the Ministry of Energy and Minerals’ annual report cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra
Aqaba Development Corporation, in cooperation with the ministry of energy and the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), is developing an onshore gasification unit at the Sheikh Sabah Port in Aqaba for liquefied natural gas (LNG), funded by a facilitated loan from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
The onshore unit will replace the current floating regasification and storage unit with a storage unit.
