AMMAN — The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and  Italian embassy in Amman on Thursday handed over a shipment of 320kg worth of prostheses components to the Paola Biocca Centre in Amman.

The Paola Biocca Centre has been active in Amman since 2014 and provides free medical assistance to financially vulnerable individuals in need of prostheses on a non-discriminatory basis, said an embassy statement.

The centre is supported by Italian organisations Campagna ItalianaContro le Mine and YouAble and managed by the Jordanian non-profit organisation Life Line for Consultancy and Rehabilitation.

A ceremony was held last Thursday to celebrate the shipment of the medical materials.

“We are proud that this centre is dedicated to the memory of an Italian humanitarian worker,” Italian Ambassador Luciano Pezzotti said. “We are glad that the prostheses we delivered today will contribute to relieving the suffering of people in need in Jordan,” the ambassador said.

The envoy also toured the premises of the Paola Biocca Centre and met some of the people who received medical assistance.

“This act of solidarity reflects the deep ties of friendship between Italy and Jordan and the strong cooperation existing between the two countries,” the statement said.
