AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Thursday welcomed the announcement by the Australian Foreign Ministry that its government is planning to resume the use of the term “occupied Palestinian territories” and that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sinan Majali described the announcement as a positive stance that accords with the international law and efforts aimed at reaching the two-state solution as the only way to realise a just and permanent peace, and to establish the independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
